Pre / Post care instructions
You should allow at least 2 to 3 hours for your initial procedure. If you usually shape or tint your lashes/ eyebrows, you should do so a few days before your appointment. It would help if you stopped taking blood-thinning products and non essential supplements like Omega's, 2 weeks before unless your physician prescribes it. Do not drink coffee or alcohol 24 hours before your appointment.
Do not take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E / Primrose Oil, Omega oils, krill oil, fat-burners, Turmeric / Curcumin supplement, cayenne pepper supplement, or olive leaf extract supplement - For two weeks before your procedure.
During the appointment, I will do an individual analysis of your facial shape, hair, eye and skin colouring and discuss what you would like to achieve from the result. Customer satisfaction is of prime importance to me, and I take a lot of time to ensure my clients are delighted with the shape, design, and colour to be applied before proceeding. You will fill out forms including medical history. Then I will create symmetry and pencil different designs so you can see what you like best. Together we will select a colour, and then I will apply a topical anaesthetic to numb the area. Anaesthetics will be applied during the procedure for your comfort. Before and after photos will be taken for your confidential file, and your pigment colours will be recorded for future reference.
Immediately after the procedure, the area will be darker than you want. There will be some mild swelling and redness that will clear in a day or two. The colour will lighten quickly during the first week, then gradually soften and stabilize over the next few weeks. During the first ten days of healing, the area will be dark and shiny from applying ointments. I will give you detailed aftercare instructions that you must follow in the letter to get the best results.
For the first 2 hours, blot the area with clean tissue every half hour to remove any lymph build-up. If you have sensitive skin, the area will appear reddish, and you might have a slight sunburn sensation. You can take anti-inflammatory and antihistamine medications for this.
After 2 hours, you can wash the area with a mild cleanser like Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser or something similar, rinse with water and pat dry. Do not apply any healing balm for the first 24 hours.
NO sweating, tanning, sun, swimming pools, salt water, sauna and steam, makeup and skin care products for seven days
From day two, you can wash the area morning and evening and apply a THIN layer of balm in the evening. After ten days, your brows should be healed, and you can go back to your regular skincare routine.
Avoid all other products and makeup in the area for 7 – 10 days
For the first 4-5 days, the area will appear dark because of the scab. You do not need to worry, as this is not your final colour result.
Do not scrub or pick off the scab! It must come off by itself.
Long-term care includes:
- Sun tanning and tanning beds
- Avoid skin care products and serums with Vit A/ Retinol on the area
- Avoid chemical peels and laser treatments on the area
- Colour boosts are needed once in a while to keep the colour looking fresh (between 2 -5 years) after initial treatment. Do not overdo it - wait till the colour is 50% faded to avoid the old-school "block brow" look.
You can take anti-inflammatory and antihistamine medications for swelling/ discomfort. You can also use cotton pads dipped in ice water. Remember to squeeze the excess water out beforehand
Wash the area with a mild cleanser like Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser or something similar, rinse with water, and pat dry twice per day. No healing balm or Vaseline is needed.
No makeup, mascara or any other products on the area for 4- 5 days.
